Are we building AI that helps us think or AI that thinks for us ?

Artificial intelligence is rapidly moving from being a tool we occasionally use to becoming part of how we search, write, learn, code, research, and make decisions. That raises an important question: Are we building AI systems that strengthen human thinking, or are we gradually outsourcing the thinking itself? There is an important difference between using AI to: • explore an unfamiliar idea, • challenge an assumption, • compare competing arguments, • understand complex information, • automate repetitive work, and using it to simply produce conclusions that we accept without examination. As AI systems become more capable, perhaps the most valuable human skill will not be knowing every answer. It may be knowing how to question an answer, examine its evidence, understand its limitations, and decide whether it deserves our trust. What do you think? Where should we draw the line between AI assistance and intellectual dependence? And what skills should people deliberately preserve as AI becomes increasingly capable? Share your perspective, examples, disagreements, research, or questions below.
